The Challenge
A real problem. An unvalidated solution.

Employee conflict costs US businesses billions a year — but most HR teams in small and mid-size companies lack the tools to manage it effectively. External mediators are expensive. Internal processes are inconsistent. Documentation is a liability risk.

An early-stage HR tech company had built around this problem. But before investing in a full product and go-to-market, they needed to validate that the problem was real enough to pay for — and that their solution was the one buyers would actually choose.

The Approach
Three phases. One clear destination.

Rather than jumping to messaging or positioning, the work started where it had to: with the customer. A structured three-phase approach that moved from discovery to validation to go-to-market, with each phase building on the last.

The goal wasn't a polished deck. It was 5 paying customers by end of year and a clear, evidence-based path to get there.

  1. Customer Discovery

Designed and distributed targeted surveys to HR professionals via LinkedIn, HR forums, and email. Conducted in-depth interviews to uncover pain points, current tools, and willingness to pay. Built a competitor analysis and feature gap matrix against existing conflict resolution and HR software.

2. Prototype Validation & Refinement

Defined the MVP feature set based on discovery findings — prioritising the pain points that HR professionals rated highest. Ran usability testing with a representative sample and developed early content marketing to establish thought leadership while the product was refined.

3. Market Validation & GTM

Targeted LinkedIn outreach to HR professionals in high-fit companies. Defined the full go-to-market strategy including paid channels, partnership opportunities, and a freemium model framework. Built the outreach and email marketing approach to convert interest into early customers.
